On 4 January 2023, overnight, unidentified gunmen threw two hand grenades on civilians including Punland officials at the Jabir hotel in Bosaso town (Bossaso, Bari). The incident occurred when there was an ongoing government reception to inaugurate the Puntland voters registration. There were no fatalities.
