On 22 December 2022, a remote controlled IED by Al Shabaab detonated, targeting government security forces (SNA) convoy travelling in between Afgooye and Ballo village (Afgooye, Lower Shabelle). One soldier was killed and four others were injured. Al Shabaab claimed responsibility.
