On 11 December 2022, an IED planted by Al Shabaab detonated, targeting a vehicle of Deputy Manager of Jowhar airfield near Xaanshooley village (Jowhar, Middle Shabelle). Two people were killed including the Deputy Manager of Jowhar airfield and his body guard (Hirshabelle police). Two other were injured. Al Shabaab claimed responsibility.
