On 5 January 2023, in Kyainseikgyi township (Kawkareik district, Kayin state), the Myanmar military forces carried out airstrikes using two military helicopters against the district office of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) brigade-6 at around 11 am and fired 17 rounds of Point-5 machine guns. The airstrikes damaged some buildings and injured an unidentified prisoner of war on his back.
