On 4 January 2023, in Hpakant town of Hpakant township (Mohnyin district, Kachin state), joint forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the People's Defense Force (under NUG) carried out an attack using heavy artillery shells against the Myanmar police forces stationed at office of General Administration Department (GAD) at around 7am. Four policemen were injured.
