On 3 January 2023, near Nyaung Pin Thar and Tar Hoe Nar village tracts (coded as Nyaung Pin Thar) (Myitkyina township, Myitkyina district, Kachin state), the Myanmar military launched airstrikes on gold mining rafts along the Mali Kha River with one fighter jet and two attack helicopters at around 3:12 pm. A 23-year-old man died on the spot, 12 others were severely injured and 20 others sustained minor injuries.
