On 1 January 2023, in Ban La Mut village (Tanintharyi township, Myeik district, Tanintharyi region), the Maw Tone based military artillery battalion fired heavy weapons indiscriminately and the shells hit and destroyed a house at about 3 pm. Casualties unknown.
