On 2 January 2023, in the west of Kyauk Yit village (coded as Kyauk Yit (East)) (Myaung township, Sagaing district, Sagaing region), the Myaung Special People's Defense Force carried out mine attacks against a Myanmar military column of around 70 soldiers, which was heading from the Kyauk Yit police station to nearby villages for raids, at around 6 am. Three military soldiers were killed.
