On 2 January 2023, in Gawt village (coded as Gawt Ywar Gyi) (Thaton township, Thaton district, Mon state), an unidentified armed group carried out a mine attack against a cargo train carrying gravel, which was traveling from Thea Hpyu Kone village of Paung township to Bago town, near the Kwin Ku toll gate at around 8:20 am for allegedly carrying goods related to the Myanmar military. The railroad was damaged by mine attacks. Casualties unknown.
