On 2 January 2023, between La Maing and Taung Kan villages (coded as La Maing) (Madaya township, Pyinoolwin district, Mandalay region), an unidentified local defense force carried out mine attacks against a Myanmar military column of around 40 soldiers coming from Ywar Thar village at around 10 am as part of the Operation 'Mya Nanda'. Seven military soldiers were killed and several injured.
