On 1 January 2023, in Chanayethazan township (Mandalay district, Mandalay region), a bomb explosion occurred at the District Court on 65th street between 33rd and 34th streets at around 12:30 pm, destroying a car nearby. Another bomb explosion also occurred at the Pioneer Bar on 35th street between 53rd and 54th streets at around 5 pm. Casualties unknown.
