On 1 January 2023, in Maden Yang village of Hpakant township (coded as Hpakant) (Mohnyin district, Kachin state), locals led by the 'Long Hkin' Strike Committee organized a people-less protest against the Myanmar military coup, the military fired four rounds of heavy artillery at the village indiscriminately. There were no casualties.
