On 30 December 2022, in San Khar village (Hpakant township, Mohnyin district, Kachin state), military forces stationed in the Ma Zut Yang prison fired rounds of heavy artillery at around 2:20 pm without an armed clash occurring and two shells exploded in the Roman Catholic Church compound, injuring six people including three women, a man and two children. Another source Myanmar Pressphoto Agency reported that five people (aged 40, 28, 19 and 13) were injured.
