On 22 December 2022, in Wea Daunt village of Mawlaik township (coded as Mawlaik) (Mawlaik district, Sagaing region), nearly 80 military soldiers raided the village and fired heavy weapons indiscriminately in the morning, killing a nine-year-old boy who tried to escape.
