On 22 December 2022, in Kawt Nwet village (Kyainseikgyi township, Kawkareik district, Kayin state), an artillery shell fired by the Myanmar military during a clash with a combined force of the KNLA and the PDF (under the NUG) landed in the village and injured ten people including a 58-year-old man who was a retired honorary traditional boxer. The man died of excessive bleeding after being sent to the hospital.
