On 12 December 2022, in Monywa township (Monywa district, Sagaing region), a combined force of Brother Defense Force (BGF), Triple Two Task Force, Chindwin Galon Yazar Guerrilla Defense Force and SRTS ambushed a military convoy of five vehicles departing from a military base in Monywa with four landmines at four locations on the Monywa-Pathein highway. Eight military soldiers were killed, and 12 others were injured.
