On 13 December 2022, between Ka Li Kyun and Ta Dar U villages (coded as Ka Li Kyun) (Thaton township, Thaton district, Mon state), the KNLA attacked a cargo train of the military transporing weapons and ammunition from Thaton to Bilin with mines between Thein Seik and Done Wun train stations on the Thaton-Bilin railway at about 6:45 pm. The train and the railway were destroyed. Karen Information Center News reported that 24 military soldiers who were providing security on the train were killed whereas Irrawaddy reported that 20 military soldiers were killed. Fatalities coded as 20, using the lowest estimate of Irrawaddy.
