On 16 December 2022, near Kawt Nwe village of Kawkareik township (Kawkareik district, Kayin state), a mine explosion occurred near Tawna waterfall at No.5/91 on Myawaddy-Dawna Taung Kyaw Road at around 6 am. The explosion damaged No.5/91 Bridge. No group claimed responsibility for the explosion. There were no casualties.
