On 17 December 2022, between Nam Hpyet Yang and Nawng Long Kawng Ra villages of Tanai township (Myitkyina district, Kachin State), the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) carried out mine attacks twice against about 100 Myanmar military troops 297th Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) and War Yar Zut People's Militia at around 9 am. Four members of the People's Militia died and five others were injured in the attack.
