On December 20, Security Forces (SFs) arrested four United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) terrorists in Khatangpani area under Pengeri Police Station in Tinsukia Districtfor allegedly providing food and shelter to the cadres of ULFA-I, reports Northeast Today. The arrestees were identified as Amit Mukhiya, Soma Mundri, Raju Gudiya and Lakhan Dang. On December 21, SFs took one of them, Amit Mukhiya, inside Upper Dehing Reserve Forest to show the SFs the exact location, where a group of ULFA-I militants had taken shelter. As they reached the spot, the militants started firing. On retaliation, the SFs returned the fire. Amit Mukhiya was injured in the encounter. However, the militants managed to escape. During a search operation, several detonators, two grenades, several metres of wire and other items were recovered by the SFs.
