A woman Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre along with other 34-armed 'jan militia' (people's army of the Maoists), members of Pedabayalu-Korukonda Area Committee of the CPI-Maoist surrendered before the Police in Alluri Sitarama Raju District of Andhra Pradesh on December 7, reports The Times of India. The woman Maoist Killo Indu alias Bharathi alias Gemmeli Bharathi (27) of Jadiguda village in Jamiguda Panchayat (village level local self-Government institution) of Pedabayalu was involved in four major incidents including murder, exchange of fire, a blast targeting Police, and a famine raid. Police also seized six wireless sets and five chargers, a country made air-pistol, a five kilograms landmine, five metres Cortex wire, three Claymore mines each two kilograms weight, a safety fuse bundle, 100 meters of electrical wire, an Olive-green uniform cloth bundle and other. The Alluri District Superintendent of Police (SP), S Satish Kumar said that the 'jan militia' members lost faith in the Maoists party and the recent arrests of ‘special zonal committee, SZC’ leader Mahendra, ‘area committee secretary’ Ashok, ‘area committee members, ACMs’ Nagesh and Sundara Rao, and surrenders of ‘district committee member, DCM’ Sudheer, party members Srikanth and Srinu, besides a huge number of surrenders of armed 'jan militia' from Jumadam, Nanubari, Injari, Taggupadu and Bangarukonda villagers of Kondrum pockets were also encouraged him to surrender. Bharathi and others were inspired by the surrendered ‘DCM’ Sudheer and were active in the Andhra Odisha Border (AOB). The other armed militia members are Pangi Pulu alias Pangi Nagesh (36) who was involved in nine offenses including five murders, three exchange of fire, and also arson cases. Pangi Prasad (37), Boribori Krishna Rao (29), Boribori Lakshmayya (47), Gollluri Sundara Rao (27), Korra Appa Rao (28), Killo Krishna Rao (43), and others. Most of them are involved in an exchange of fire incidents or killings or arsons and served as armed ‘militia’ or members of Rythu Collie Sangham (RCS) used to gather public for Maoists party meetings and provide food to Maoist squads, besides helping in blasting.
