On 8 December 2022, in Aungmyaythazan township (Mandalay district, Mandalay region), Special Task Force - Mandalay hurled a grenade at military forces playing chinlone, a traditional Myanmar sport, at a ward administration office compound between 26th and 35th streets at about 5:30 pm. Irrawaddy reported that three military soldiers were seriously injured. NUG reported that one military soldier was killed and two others were injured. Fatalities coded as 0, using the lowest estimate.
