On 3 December 2022, near Wet Kyein (Myo) village (Maungdaw township, Maungdaw district, Rakhine state), a 19-year-old Mro ethnic man, who went to Zay Di hill to cut bamboo, sustained critical injuries and lost his left ankle after stepping on a landmine at around 1 pm. The victim was taken to the Maungdaw general hospital.
