On 6 December 2022, an IED, planted by an unidentified armed group, killed a Popular Mobilization Forces fighter during a search-and-destroy operation in the Jurf Al Nasr district, Babil. The victim was from the 47th Brigade (Saraya al-Difa' al-Sha'abi) Popular Mobilization Forces.
