As part of a planned construction project in the Westfalenpark, three duds from the Second World War were found on Thursday, November 24th. Each dud weighs 250 kilograms. These explosive ordnance still have to be defused today by the explosive ordnance disposal service of the Arnsberg district government. For safety reasons, the surrounding area must therefore be evacuated within a radius of 250 meters. Westfalenpark remains open in some areas The following companies are affected by the evacuation: WILO SE, Westnetz GmbH, Regus-Dortmund, the Florian Tower, E.on, the "mondo mio" children's museum, the Dortmund job center and the Westphalia Ballet Center, as well as parts of the Westphalia Park. The entrance on Florianstraße will be closed during the mitigation. Residents are not affected by the evacuation. The northern part of the Westfalenpark will be closed from around 2:30 p.m.
