On 23 November 2022, an IED planted by Al Shabaab detonated, targeting ATMIS UPDF EOD team in Xaawo-Cabdi village (Afgooye, Lower Shabelle). The EOD team were engaged in the clearing land mines from the road in between Mogadishu and Afgooye. One soldier was killed. Al Shabaab claimed responsibility.
