On 23 November 2022, in Thaung Kawt village of Hpakant township (coded as Hpakant) (Mohnyin district, Kachin state), following the armed clash between military forces and the KIA, military forces stationed on the Hpakant strategic hill fired heavy weapons and six shells exploded in the village, killing a 47-year-old male villager and injuring seven others. Four houses were destroyed.
