On 23 March 2020, Al Shabaab militants targeted a police convoy accompanying the Afgoye police station commander at the Hawo Abdi Hospital in Afgooye district (Lower Shabelle) with a Remote Controlled IED (RCIED) explosion. Unknown number of casualties reported.
