Bomb (Air Delivered)
Bomb (Air Delivered) event in Île-de-France, Bois-Colombes area, France on Tue 18th October 2022
18th October 2022
An impressive security perimeter was set up on Tuesday between the towns of Bois-Colombes and Courbevoie. The reason? The discovery of an old American shell on an office building site. It was around noon when workers on the site, located on rue Raoul-Nordling, discovered the shell, which weighed 250 kg and contained around 125 kg of explosives. Once the emergency services were alerted, a large security perimeter was immediately set up in the area between Bruyère Park, Bécon Park and the Bécon-les-Bruyères railway station. In total, nearly 1,200 people were asked to leave the area while technicians from the Paris police prefecture's laboratory and the mine clearance service intervened. Among the people affected were the 600 or so employees of the Citizen company, the 300 residents of Avenue Michel-Ricard, a residential street just a stone's throw away, and the 250 maintenance technicians of an SNCF centre. On the other side of the railway line, the Coquelicot crèche and the Vignes school were also evacuated while technicians neutralized the bomb.
