IED event in Corsica, l'Arôme, Rue du Roi de Rome, Ajaccio area, France on Tue 2nd November 2021
2nd November 2021
On Wednesday 2 November, an explosive device was found in a restaurant in the Rue du Roi de Rome in Ajaccio. An investigation has been opened and entrusted to the territorial directorate of the Ajaccio judicial police. On the morning of Wednesday 2 November, an employee went on duty and discovered an explosive device in the restaurant l'Arôme in the Rue du Roi de Rome where he is employed in Ajaccio. After reporting it to the town's police station, a security perimeter was set up around the establishment until the bomb squad arrived. "It seems that the explosive device did not work and we do not yet know the nature of the product. We don't know when it was planted, knowing that the restaurant in question had been closed since the weekend," said Nicolas Septe, public prosecutor in Ajaccio. The pro-independence movement Core in Fronte openly denounces "mafia-like practices" and calls for a collective refusal of "these villainous behaviours which are the opposite of the free Corsican society that we want to build".
