The explosion was averted by the vigilance of a man who saw the explosive device under a chair in a busy drinking establishment in the Buea Road area of Kumba, Meme Department. He immediately informed the Kumba police station.In the aftermath, sources report, elements of the defence and security forces led by the prefect of the Meme, Chamberlin Ntou'o Ndong, went to the scene. Thanks to their professionalism, they defused the device ready to explode, which was obviously planted by separatist fighters. This action prevented the worst from happening.
