Six soldiers and three civilian auxiliaries of the army on patrol were killed in two separate explosions of homemade devices in northern Burkina Faso, security sources told AFP on Thursday. Three "volunteers for the defense of the country", civilian auxiliaries of the army, were killed Thursday by the explosion of an improvised explosive device "on the Markoye-Tokabangou road, in the province of Oudalan", bordering Niger and Mali, a security source said. In addition, "soldiers from a patrol team were victims of an IED (improvised explosive device) attack yesterday (Wednesday) in Diamana, in the province of Yagha", bordering Niger, the source added, adding that "six elements" had been killed.
