Grenade event in Flemish Region, Deken De Winterstraat, Berchem area, Belgium on Sun 17th July 2022

The explosion took place in Deken De Winterstraat. "At about one o'clock last night, some kind of explosive device was detonated in front of a building in Berchem," said the local police. It is not yet known what it is. "It may not be a grenade, but what it was, is still under investigation," the prosecutor's office said. The blast damaged the front door of a house, a driveway and several cars in the area. "The damage is limited, fortunately no one was present at the time of the incident." On Friday, a fatal shooting took place in the middle of the street in Deurne, this murder would be linked to the drug scene. The victim is believed to be a Dutch drug dealer, the perpetrators - presumably also Dutch - have not yet been arrested. It is not certain that there is a link between the two attacks.
