On 04 March 2020, an IED planted by an unknown armed group detonated targeting a military vehicle loaded with ammunition and weapons belonging to Fatemiyoun militia, which was headed towards the militia positions, while passing in Al Mayadin desert east of Deir-ez-Zor, killing at least 3 militiamen, and seriously injured another.
