On 4 March 2020, French Operation Barkhane forces conducted an airstrike in coordination with Nigerien forces in the area of Tankademi (Tillia, Tahoua), northeast of Ekrafane, killed twenty-five suspected ISGS militants and destroyed twenty-five motorbikes. A statement by the Nigerien Ministry of Defense said that ground forces recovered arms, ammunition, and equipment.
