Rocket event in Sumy, Okhtyrka area, Ukraine on Wed 16th November 2022
16th November 2022
In Sumy Oblast, police explosives officers neutralized a Russian air-launched missile Enemy munitions abandoned in forest strips and fields, mines, rockets and other explosive objects - every day, 24/7, the GUNP explosives in the Sumy region conduct inspections and demining of the area. Not every day, the employees of the explosives department of the GUNP in the Sumy region, together with forensic experts, make trips to the places of events in order to document the consequences of shelling of the border territories of the region by the Russian military. Yesterday, they visited one of the settlements of the Okhtyr district, where shelling took place the day before. "In the afternoon, a Russian helicopter, without crossing the border line, fired unguided missiles at the outskirts of the village from its territory. Fortunately, there were no casualties. One of the rockets did not explode, but fell near the road," says Oleg Yevlash , the head of the explosives department of the National Security Service of Ukraine in the Sumy region . After inspecting the site of the airstrike, police sappers came to the conclusion that the shelling was carried out by S-13 missiles. This is a powerful Russian air projectile weighing from 57 to 75 kilograms (depending on the model), designed to destroy buildings, equipment and people. "The unexploded projectile had a compound explosive, so it posed an extreme danger to others. Our sappers neutralized it and took it to a safe place for destruction," Oleg Yevlash said. The police of the Sumy region emphasize that upon receiving a message about an air alert, a threat of air strikes or artillery strikes, citizens should treat such information seriously and responsibly. While at home, go down to the basement, cellar or other shelter. Be sure to move away from the windows, use the "two walls" rule, if you still decide to stay in an apartment or house. If the signal of an air raid caught you on the street, immediately leave the open area, go to the nearest bomb shelter or other shelter, and if the explosions are already happening nearby, do not run, but immediately fall into the nearest depression in the ground to protect yourself from the debris.
