On February 23, approximately 30 rockets and mortar shells were fired by the PIJ at Israel from the Gaza Strip. In Ashqelon a piece of shrapnel from an intercepted rocket damaged a car and sirens were heard in the City. The attack came after a PIJ member was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers.
