15 houses destroyed by Military Council’s artillery shelling in Minbya Rakhine State At around 9:00 AM on November 8, AA(The Arakan Army) intercepted and attacked 2 Military Council ferry boats at a river bend near Khaung Laung Chaung Village in Minbya Township. The Military Council’s ferry vessels and the Military Council’s base in Minbya retaliated with several rounds of artillery fire, destroying 15 houses in a residential district of Minbya Township Rakhine State according to a local activist. The same activist reported “In Satkayay village, 3 houses were destroyed including the village administrative officer U Maung Nyunt Chay’s home. 4 houses collapsed in Kyayepyin village. He also reported that In Chaungshay village houses owned by U San Shwe Thein and U Me Aung were toppled. A house was hit by an artillery shell in Phalaungpyin Village. The other houses suffered holes on the walls, broken roofs and smashed pillars. Details of the damage are still being compiled.” Most of the damage to homes was caused by artillery shells fired from military vessels. In addition, the Military Council troops based near Minbya Medawtaung continued to fire artillery until around 3:30 PM, locals said.
