On 5 November 2022, presumed JNIM militants shelled the town of Bourzanga (Bourzanga, Bam). At least two civilians were killed. The shelling also caused material damages. JNIM acknowledged responsibility, presented condolences, and said the shelling targeted the Burkinabe army.
