On 1 November 2022, mortar shells fired by an unidentified party landed in Aden - Al Quluah (Al Mualla) killing 1 child and injuring others including the child's sister. One source claimed that the strikes targeted Bir Ahmad base currently housing UAE forces. The exact origin of the shells, whether fired from a drone or through shelling, is unclear.
