On 2 November 2022, between Swut Ngai Yang and Hmaw Wan villages of Hpakant township (coded as Hpakant) (Mohnyin district, Kachin state), military forces from the Hpakant town strategic hill fired heavy weapons at the Hmaw Wan village at 12:30 am and the shells landed between the two villages (Swut Ngai Yang and Hmaw Wan) and injured two students (aged 14 and 18) while going to the school.
