Around 25 armed cadres of Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC), a splinter group of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), created a ruckus in the Balram Stone Mines Pipradih compound operating in Olhe village in Bariatu Block (administrative sub division) under Balumath Police Station limits in Latehar District of Jharkhand on August 1, reports thenewssense.in. Kanhai Singh, the operator of Balram Stone Mines, was being continuously threatened by the militants for the demand of ÔlevyÕ (extortion money) for the last several days, and when the cadres did not get the ÔlevyÕ despite the threat, about 25 armed cadres reached the mines premises and took over the security personnel there. Later, the cadres broke the glass of a Poclain standing in the mines premises and punctured the tire by shooting a bullet into the tire of the tractor. Apart from this, about 4 to 5 firing was also done. During this, the cadres threatened the security personnel of dire consequences if the work started without their orders.
