On 28 July 2022, in Guaranda (Sucre), suspected Gulf Clan members on a motorcycle threw a grenade at a police unit located in front of a bank. The grenade fell in front of the bank and detonated, injuring six civilians and causing damage to the infrastructure of the bank. The area is known for the presence of armed groups. There were no fatalities.
