UEMS / Ammunition Depot event in Vidzeme, Aizkraukle area, Latvia on Wed 27th July 2022

On Wednesday, July 27, the Aizkraukle station of the State Police (VP) received two calls about unexploded ammunition found on the banks of the Daugava. In both cases, the information was handed over to the National Armed Forces (NBS), the portal ÒDelfiÓ was informed by the police. The first call about the found ammunition was received around 2:10 p.m., in which the police were informed that unexploded ammunition had been found on the bank of the Daugava in Aizkraukle district, Klintaines parish. On the other hand, the second call was received around 8 p.m., where the ammunition was found in Klintaines parish, on the Staburaga road near the Daugava bank. In this case, an unexploded wartime round was found. In both cases, the VP notified the NBS Operational Management Department.
