On 17 February 2020, in Wet Ma Kya Village, in Kyauktaw Township, in Rakhine State, four artillery shells which were supposedly fired by the Myanmar military from Mt. Taung Shay in east of the village landed into the village and exploded. The explosion destroyed some houses in the village and more than 270 villagers fled the village to seek safety in a nearby village. There was no report of casualties.
