On 18 March 2020, in Let Ma Seik Village, in Ponnagyun Township, in Rakhine State, Myanmar military navy vessel travelling along Kalandan river fired artillery shells into the village and an artillery shell landed near an ordination tent in the village. A woman was killed and a novice monk was injured.
