On June 5 2019, a soldier was injured after the explosion of a fragmentation grenade in the mining town of Tumeremo, in southern Bolivar. According to reports, a group of soldiers was in a vehicle passing through the site and alleged criminals threw the explosive, which detonated in front of the vehicle. The motives for this action are unknown.
