On 2nd July, a Kenyan military vehicle was hit by an IED (the source attributes the attack to Al Shabaab) on the road between Mandera and Lafey, 5km from Lafey. Fatalaties are unclear (coded at low estimate of 3). An additional IED was safely dismantled by Kenyan army reinforcements in the area later that same day.
