On 3 March 2020, a man wearing a bomb detonated it during prayers at the Anjabara Orthodox church in Anjabara town, Amhara region. The bomber and his wife were killed, with 8 others injured. Motives behind the attack are unknown, and do not appear to be linked to jihadism.
