On 16 February 2020, an IED planted by an unidentified armed group under a vehicle of the regime's Republican Guard, exploded in front of the Republican Guard headquarters on the road connecting Saqba and Hezzeh in Rural Damascus. The explosion resulted in the killing of 1 member of the Republican Guard and the wounding of 2 others. Members of the regime's Military Intelligence were deployed to the area and carried out raids and blocked roads.
